Comparative Politics, Senior Rank Faculty Position in Political Science

The Department of Political Science at Stanford University seeks applicants for a senior appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. The preferred area of specialty is Comparative Politics. Applicants must have demonstrated the ability to maintain a world-class research program and a commitment to effective teaching and mentoring. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in a related field and will be expected to teach and advise students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The term of appointment is expected to begin on September 1, 2025.

  • curriculum vitae (including a publication list)

  • research statement (no more than three single-spaced pages)

  • teaching statement (no more than two single-spaced pages)

  • teaching evaluations

The salary ranges for academic year 2024-25: 

Associate Professor: $175,000 - $220,000

Professor: $250,000 - $350,000

Stanford University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the qualifications of the selected candidate, budget availability, and internal equity.
